WORKING RELATIONS

When I attended an interview a few years ago and mentioned the term "working relationship" I was looked at in aghast as if I  meant something untoward, unsavoury and unwholesome even shocking that I had the audacity to even speak a taboo subject.  I said that a working relationship was an important factor for me in undertaking any employment contract with a company.

So I had better explain myself and what definition I put to the term:

Working Relationship: when you are a "right-hand man" to your boss and those you report to daily. It is similar to any other relationship in that it takes time to mature, Working Relationsbut the level is strictly on a professional foothold and the lines are adhered too.

It is the combination of personalities which makes or breaks the working relationship but also the working style. If there is a wrong working partnership it can make life very difficult and facing any project or task a chore rather than a joy.

The expectation of any working relation is highly mixed with personality traits that you wouldn't ordinarily put up with but many people stay unsatisfied in their careers and they take more action when it comes to a marriage divorce than a company divorce if things weren't working out right for them.

The working relationship is a critical factor in employment. So let's make it clear; you'll spend the next seven hours a day plus more with overtime in their company, five days a week, every year for the next five or so come rain or shine.  Looking at their face, watching their habits and idiosyncrasies forever so it will seem ~ like being trapped in an elevator permanently with them.

But don't let that put you off a working relationship that can work which is beneficial to play off each other's strengths.

And don't look so angst nor be in anguish
as you stare towards me.
