STRESS MANAGEMENT by B. Juggernauth In modern societies we tend to lead a stressful life. This
is due to the exertion of pressures in our working environment or in our own home. It
could be a combination of both. We tend to rush to work, eating very quickly, drinking too
fast, driving too fast and in fact everything we do, we do in a rush we don't stop and
think.
Now living or being under pressures can be harmful to our mental and physical well-being. This of course would undermine our general well-being. It could be to such a point that a breaking-point is reached, and help, whether it is of a medical nature or spiritual nature will be required eventually. And if such help is not given then the possibility of a complete breakdown in our system will take place. People talk of divine help, well this does not really exist. What exists is our own mind. How do we deal with certain problems or how do we alleviate certain pressures being exerted over us is the primordial factor. How do we look at life itself, and the taking the right attitude is benevolent in itself. To release the steam that is being built within our body, which should be regarded as a temple, we must open the lid, not fully opened because the consequences might be too great to bear, but using a gradual process. This would be a process that suits every individual not the one given in books. This is too generalised, we must always remember that one man's meat is another man's poison. It seems there is one thing lacking in most companies. A service provided that would help any member of staff who is under severe or undue stress. His doctor and medicine along would not help, but the creation of a therapy group within the company would be most beneficial, or an organised seminar to teach relaxation thorough meditation, as it can up-lift one's spirit but help to see everything in its perspective. It can help to do some introspection which lead us to examine ourselves and re-harnessed if necessary. It is like the battery of a car, when it's flat it gets recharged and how do we do it - trickle charge. The same principle is applied here. WEB SOURCES: Health & Safety Executive Online
