ART IN BUSINESS

Reading some years ago about a British young woman sculptor in a business magazine about the topic of art in business and the objects that line the office walls.

There was a benefactor who recognised her talent and let her sculpt until her heart's desire whilst he marketed her works in a business way like the other artists who were in the past linked to noble or merchant families.

And before anyone thinks of a negative concept to the word benefactor please re-read the book The Great Expectations by Charles Dickens, a benefactor can be of either gender and in a strict business understanding similiar to mentorship but with finance or venture capitalists.

I think there is another young American girl who paints Abstracts who appeared on a talk-show some time back, very impressive as Abstract art is a difficult area to develop. I was also impressed by the artist from the rain forest who won the award as a representative for the century's paintings.

I don't believe any artist should "suffer for their art" waste of creative energy. Arts and business can assist with decision making and problem-solving through literature, music and the arts.

However I do like artist's who use strong vibrant colours such as Dante Rossetti and Fantasy Artwork.   Fanasty Art is a much better use of the creative mind and the imagination because it represents what the eye can't see and where possible there are examples of their work throughout this website.

I used to draw and paint but stopped. The reason was when drawing portraits it was never as people saw themselves in the mirror but their emotions were captured on the paper although my art teacher was impressed the person hated it; either that or the paintings were stolen from the Art Room.

I was thinking of taking it back up again someday as one never loses the artist's eye for forms and dimensions but I'd like to experiment with Computer Art as its a new area of development.  Mixing this with photography would be an interesting concept to investigate which is already occuring in the creative media.

Perfect! Absolutely Perfect!Another thing, I find interesting is going into offices and noticing what they hang up on their walls.

Last year I went to an interview at a Music company. I was taken into the room by one of the best interviews I had in a long time by a Personnel manager.

However, whilst I had finished the test I had a chance to look around the room. I cracked up inside with laughter. For on the wall was an Abstract picture of what looked liked someone going to their death...it had a dove, a bowler hat, a grave with RIP on it etc., needless to say the outcome when meeting the intended boss.

Another company had antique clocks in their auditorium and reception area. It was an accountancy firm, talk about letting your employees know that time is money on a daily basis.
